Jal Jeevan Mission

Project Overview
The Jal Jeevan Mission in Uttar Pradesh aims to provide tap water connections to all rural households through the construction of intake wells, pumping stations, reservoirs, and pipelines, while also deploying 33,157 solar-powered schemes in remote and energy-deficient areas. To ensure sustainable operations, 12.36 lakh community members have been trained in O&M, water quality testing, plumbing, and pump operation. The project integrates IoT-based monitoring and GIS-enabled tracking for transparency and efficiency. With a target of covering 2.66 crore rural households, the state has already achieved connections to about 2.17 crore households (≈81.7%) as of 2024. Since 2023, approximately 61.05 lakh new tap connections have been installed, supported by solar schemes generating nearly 900 MW of renewable power and contributing to an annual reduction of around 13 lakh metric tonnes of CO₂.
